Field of Dreams

The only things I can clearly remember about the movie Field of Dreams is that it has something to do with baseball, and the quote, "If you build it, he will come." (Its he right? Not they? Obviously I don't know, which just proves my point...)

So disclaimer, this post has absolutely NOTHING to do with that movie, Except that Danny and I did end up in a baseball field. See there — relevance. :winks atchu:

Just when my mind was starting to get bogged down with work and adult responsibilities, Danny suggested we steal away one afternoon and simply Be.

It's the break I needed.

We didn't go far. We walked and it was wonderful. We took over the mostly abandoned baseball field near us. I've seen it in use only a handful of times over the years.

Of course I had my outdoor exploration essential - picnic blanket.

It's always fun to get out and explore near your home. It's almost always just as fascinating as stealing away to some exotic location. If you slow down enough to find the hidden gems.

If you look again with eyes that aren't jaded by routine.

The old scoreboard being overtaken by vines.

Muse.

Muse.

We can be so busy "making" a life that we forget we're already living.

Mine.

Mine.

That's the dugout in the distance. We set up camp in the outfield.

That's the dugout in the distance. We set up camp in the outfield.

Getting outside of the house, looking up with wild wonder at the sky has always helped me to clear my head.

It gives me perspective.

It gives me the time I need to just dream, rather than be consumed with the anxieties and challenges that often come with the work required to turn those dreams reality.

Dreaming.

Dreaming.

As we lay on our blanket there in the grass of our own private field of dreams looking at the trees and playing the What-Shape-Is-The-Cloud game, I couldn't help but be filled with immense gratitude.

I have a husband who truly, truly gets me.

And I love a God, and I'm loved by a God who created all the beautiful things around me, my husband included.

There's a peace and tranquility that comes from knowing that the same God that watched over the seeds that grew into the towering trees I see, is the same One safe-keeping the seeds Danny and I are planting in our lives, in this our field of dreams.
